THIS IS WHAT WE ARE

If you really want to take some good photos, the lighting on an overcast day is often better than a sunny one. The contrast is more subtle, the shadows aren't as overbearing. But most people don't think about it. And if you think back on some of the most powerful scenes in a film, scenes of fear and scenes of the lovelorn, scenes of high emotion and of nuanced romance, many of them are set on overcast days.

TheOvercast.net is a site born near Denver, now based in Seattle, and open to artists around the United States and world. We seek to feature artists that uniquely express something about the human spirit, that understand the importance of innovation and new creation. We value supporting a common good through art. Music was never made for the fans, the scene, or the record companies. Music was made for something bigger than that. We want to introduce you to artists and organizations who have seen a part of what that is.

THIS IS HOW WE LISTEN TO YOU

THIS IS HOW WE LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC

TheOvercast.net posts only honest, positive reviews. We welcome submissions/tips from anyone, anywhere, provided that you consider the following two things:

1. A key thing to understand about The Overcast is that we emphasize the understanding of music as art--not business. We're not here to scout someday-rockstars. We just love passionate people: we interview bands with compelling stories, we review bands with compelling music. Please listen to us as we listen to you. That is, read the site and get a feel for how we do things.
2. On the logistic side, the artist must have at least four songs available for purchase or free download online. (Our audience covers a broad geography, so there needs to be something fans everywhere can keep.) If you can't sell it from your own site, e-mail me for ideas. Seriously!

Good to go? To submit your music for review, please e-mail Pauline Diaz at music[at]theovercast.net or submit via our SoundCloud DropBox (link below). The more info on your band that you send, the more helpful it is to us. Send a link or .zip for mp3s or request a mailing address for CDs (and extra points if you can get it to me on vinyl). Send me your track

THIS IS HOW WE LOOK AT YOUR ORGANIZATION

THE OVERCAST :: ACTION is interested in featuring non-profit organizations that work with and through art to create positive social change. We prefer organizations that work with and benefit communities around the nation or world, but we will also consider local organizations.
