If you really want to take some good photos, the lighting on an overcast day is often better than a sunny one. The contrast is more subtle, the shadows are less overbearing... Most people don't think about it.
Like good photos, good music is one of the many good things people miss out on. No matter what five-song FM says, it's out there, pumping at a strong pulse. The Overcast is here to prove it to you. We're going to find the dreamers, the passion, the best sounds hidden away. And we'd love it if you'd do the same. So if you want to get featured or know of another band that should, scroll down and send us a link!

TheOvercast.net posts only honest, positive reviews. We welcome submissions/tips from anyone, anywhere, provided that you consider the following two things:
1. A key thing to understand about The Overcast is that we emphasize the understanding of music as art--not business. We're not here to scout someday-rockstars. We just love passionate people: we interview bands with compelling stories, we review bands with compelling music. Please listen to us as we listen to you. That is, read the site and get a feel for how we do things.
2. On the logistic side, the artist must have at least four songs available for purchase or free download online. (Our audience covers a broad geography, so there needs to be something fans everywhere can keep.) If you can't sell it from your own site, we suggest trying CDBaby.com, Smartpunk, Interpunk, or any of your favorite downloading services. Or seriously, throw your e-mail address and a price on your myspace.
Good to go? To submit your music for review, please e-mail Pauline Diaz at getfeatured@theovercast.net The more info on your band that you send (think press kits if you have them), the more helpful it is to us. We accept tangible CDs as well as mp3s (and extra points if you can get it to me on vinyl).
